“How do I practice self care and pursue dreams with a family that say they support you until it is inconvenient for them? (Leaving my family is not an option.)”

Wow, what a great listener question! What do we do when the people closest to us don’t support our dreams?

If you’ve ever wrestled with that issue, then click here to watch the new, 11:56 minute video.

When Your Family Doesn’t Support Your Dreams

Here’s the wonderful Elizabeth Gilbert quote I referenced:

There are still huge swaths of women who never got the memo that their lives belong to them. There’s this instinct that they need a permission slip from the principal’s office for anything. You are allowed to ask yourself some really important questions about your life. You are allowed to take accountability and ownership for your journey.

Once you’ve watched the video, leave a comment below and let me know: What are YOU going to do to support yourself this week?

This week I will list all of my projections and correct those thoughts that have left me feeling stuck. Thank you so much for this post. I’d really been struggling and angry even with my family about not supporting me. Being a single parent, I’d thought that this is something they should automatically being doing. Thank goodness for a better perspective !!!

KT, that’s a great idea to list out those thoughts that keep you feeling trapped! You’re welcome; I’m glad to hear that the video resonated with you. You’re right, it’s really easy to get stuck in that place of, “They should support me! They should just know what I need!” … even though sometimes WE don’t even know what we need! I applaud you for taking ownership and for your willingness to look inward. Well done.
